History of Indian Institute of Legal Studies Shimla

The Institute has been established in the year 2002 in Shimla,once the summer capital of British India and presently the capital of Himachal Pradesh, located in northern India, commonly known as queen of hills & paradise of tourists. It is bounded by Mandi and Kullu in the north, Kinnaur in the east, the state of Uttarakhand in the south-east, and Solan and Sirmaur to the south. The elevation of the city ranges from 300 to 2200 metres. The educational institutions of this cosmopolitan centre have been attracting students not only from India but from the neighboring countries.

The institute took a humble start by introducing B.Ed for girls and Art & Craft Courses in the year 2002. The intake in B.Ed course was increased from 100 students to 200 students in 2007. The Institute has made many strides under his dynamic strewardship by adding new courses of JBT, BCA, BBA, B.Sc. (Hons) Biotechnology, M.Sc. Microbiology, M.Sc. Biotechnology, M.Sc. Chemistry, LL.B (3 Years) and M.Ed. courses in a relatively small span of Five Years.
